Hanna Lee, Child Prodigy
Killing time browsing the web last week, I came across a blog, youarebeautiful.yolasite.com. The site is all about celebrating young women, individual style, and overcoming societal judgments and "requirements". The interviews feature female photographers, and when I stumbled upon Hanna Lee's words, I was awestruck. The way she spoke, the aesthetic of the photos, so surreal, so youthful, so nostalgic. The reason why is simple. Hanna Lee is twelve years old. At first I didn't believe it. It couldn't be true! She was too good! But definitely looked twelve, definitely spoke younger, and definitely captured the true essence of childhood. To see the passion, dedication, and skill level of someone so young is one the most inspiring things in this world. Hanna Lee takes photos because she loves to take photos. She doesn't care about fame of glory, or even if you like her pictures or not. She does it because she loves it, and to see that, that simple pleasure, gives me hope for the world. Hope that people like Hanna Lee will grow up and do what they love because they love it. Not because it will make them famous or able to buy their dream home, but because it's what makes them genuinely happy. Check out her flickr stream
