Illiterate Presents CMYK + RGB!
On Friday, August 21st 2009 Illiterate brings its mission of creative collaboration to Denver's Space gallery with “RGB + CMYK”, an interactive arts event exploring the interactions between print and digital media. With print and digital installations, live screen printing, a conceptual fashion show and a print exhibition by some of Denver's most prolific contemporary artists and designers, “RGB + CMYK” places two forms of reproduction side by side asking the question on every newspaper publisher and online entrepreneur's mind: are these formats complimentary or in competition?
Print Exhibit
Twenty + artists are creating custom prints based on the theme CMYK+RGB. Artists are free to explore any print method of their choice including screen printing, digital giclee, linoleum cuts, lithography, letterpress -- anything that can be represented on paper. All prints will be for sale and reasonably priced under $50.
DVLP Fall Fashion Release
Award winning streetwear brand, DVLP, will be unveiling its fall fashion series, including the new premier Cursive line of clothing, in a CMYK+RGB themed runway show.
Live Screen Printing
Local screen print shop Indy Ink will be in attendance with their six color screen printing apparatus printing
CMYK + RGB related designs on T-Shirts and paper. Bring your own, and they'll print it for free!
Print and Digital Installations
Denver artists Matt Scobey and Sterling Crispin are creating interactive installations incorporating the print
and digital concepts of CMYK + RGB. We can't say too much on these except that you will be involved.
Music Performances
DJ Cory Brown, DJ Synergy and Pictureplane will take on the audio version of the CMYK + RGB theme with
DJ sets that include the warm analog purr of vinyl records alongside the crisp digital sampling and beat
matching enabled by turning sound waves into 1’s and 0’s. Also stay tuned for a unique sound performance
by Ryan Mcryhew of Denver's audio warping wizards BDRMPPLL.
Food and Drink
Denver’s favorite bakers at the Shoppe will be providing custom cupcakes for all to enjoy as they
contemplate the interaction of traditional and emerging media platforms. Wash your sweet treat down with a
comlimentary Izze or a brew.
