Rhinocerashion Part Seis
Terry Cambpell sports the highly popular pop top moustache. Graceful, poetic and kind of difficult. This is Rain Kelly. Since it was Warren's Birthday, he was appropriately wearing a Birthday Girl tiara. Matched with his smart pink wig, glasses and t.shirt that basically matches anything, I loved his look. I gave him my scarf for half the night. He looked fabulous. This is Megan. I pretty much ran after her, the paparazzi that I am, and asked her for her photo while three other girls shyly admitted to following her outside to ask her where she got her skirt from. She got it from Raves. I really like how she matches her eyebrows to her bangs. Notice her power t...Read more
I Left My Heart at the Fabric Lab
It's been such a whirlwind. I first encountered the Fabric Lab when I submitted a few of my dresses to their Haute Art + Fashion Show. At the time I was a student in Boulder, stuck in the bubble, and it was really my first taste of the Denver art scene : I was impressed/inspired/hungry for more. I officially fell in love with the Super Block when they had the fashion show on the sidewalk. picture coutesy Lauire Scavo. A couple of my dresses hanging in the Fabic Lab at the Haute Art + Fashion Show Shortly after, I moved to San Francisco, but still kept a curious eye on the Denver fashion scene via the internets and FM Magazine's fashion editorials. Everything I was seeing in the i...Read more
Rhinocerashion Part Cinco
(Hollagram necklaces are the new thing. Courtesy Isaac & Heather) Since this is my fifth blog inspired by an outing to Rhinoceropolis, I might as well just start a series. Rhinoceropolis + Fashion = Rhinocerashion. You can call me Paparazzi Take Five. It's that time of year again to get out of your fashion comfort zone. Dress up as your favorite character from that one movie. Throw on a hat that would make you feel a little different. (courtesy MMIII) Later I saw this girl wearing it asking "Do I look like a giant bug? I feel like a giant bug." The next picture does not do justice to the true colors of the outfit (and neon lit bar), but I was very impressed by Y...Read more
Number (N)ine is Finished
Jonathon Bauder e.mailed this blog posting to me well over five months ago in May. Somehow, it got "lost" in my inbox ... . and I'm finally posting it (poor form, I know, I apologize). I found it in good timing at least, as it is speaking of 2009 Fall Fashion. How I would love to see the gentleman of Denver walking and bicycling in this garb ... Number (N)ine is Finished By Jonathan Bauder May 14, 2009 For those of you who are not familiar with Number (N)ine or its creator Takahiro Miyashita let me give you the rundown. Number (N)ine was established in 1996 by Takahiro Miyashita. In 2000, Miyashita did his first runway show in Toky...Read more
Denver Fashion Week?
About three months agoI heard of a Denver Fashion Week happening October 8th- 12th in Civic Center Park. Overwhelmed with splendor, I paid the $25 application fee and applied online. I proceeded to e.mail Shaunie Cobb (the head of BlackWhite Design Companies, the entity that was going to produce the whole event), requesting if I could conduct an interview/feature on Denver Fashion Week for Illiterate's media site. We got in touch and she agreed to meet up at City 'O City with Renee Mudd & I for a mini photo shoot and a quick interview over a cup of tea. I met up with Renee, and we sat over Pablo's brew wondering if Shaunie Cobb was someone sitting elsewhere in the cafe, since we had ...Read more
Happy October. Denver Fall Fashion.
It's officially official - It's Fall. And everyone looks fabulous. Last night I bumped into TaRosa Jacob at Rhinoceropolis wearing this fabulous outfit. She is one of Denver's fabulous thriving fashionista's & the woman behind Thriftonista, if you haven't heard. You can peruse her fabulous finds at the Fabric Lab. She finds the most precious items searching through thrift stores and estate stales and brings them to us at super reasonable prices. Mr. Isaac, the generous doortender who let my friend & I in by bartering beer and tomatoes (because we didn't have any cash), was also more than appropriately dressed. Blazer + Jacket = Beginning of Fall Fashion Love. The blazer s...Read more
